JerseyShort or long sleeve. Fit and sleeve length are the two variables it brings into scenario selection.
VestA layering piece, not a standalone jacket — added when windproofing is needed without full sleeves.
JacketThe wind- and water-resistant outer layer. Often skipped entirely, or made mandatory, by scenario.
Arm WarmersRemovable temperature control for scenarios with a wide swing between start and mid-ride conditions.
Leg WarmersSame logic below the waist — included or dropped based on how much of the ride happens in cool conditions.
CapWorn under a helmet or on its own — the piece most sensitive to helmet type, which drops it from some builds entirely.

The same parts list produces a Road kit that shares almost nothing with a Bikepacking kit, because each scenario answers the inclusion question differently.

Every complete cycling kit starts from the same six categories above. What changes is which ones a given scenario actually uses, and why. A Road kit stays light because road riding holds one posture for hours on the least severe surface we build for. A Bikepacking kit carries more layers because it has to survive a temperature swing across several days on its own. Neither is a bigger or smaller kit — they're different answers to the same six questions.

Indoor riding is the cleanest example in the table: zero airflow means every added layer works against the rider, so the framework drops four of the six pieces entirely. Bikepacking sits at the other end — every piece earns its place because the kit has to outlast a multi-day weather swing with no resupply.

Reading this matrix for a mixed-scenario order: a single-scenario buyer reads one row and gets a piece list. A club or team spanning two scenarios — road racers and gravel riders on the same roster — reads two rows and gets two piece lists on the same brief and schedule, not blended into one compromise kit.

One matrix decision worth flagging on its own: the Gravel row shows jacket as "weather-dependent" rather than a flat yes or no, because gravel duration and intensity vary more than any other scenario here.

Naming where delays actually come from is more useful than promising there won't be any.

The brief skips a scenario answer

If step 1 doesn't land on a specific scenario, or an explicit multi-scenario split, the piece list gets guessed at. Guessed lists get re-worked at sampling — the 5–7 day cycle runs twice.

When

A fabric substitution is requested after sampling starts

Material selection (step 3) is meant to close before sampling opens in step 5; a late fabric change re-opens both steps together.

When

Revisions run past the two included rounds

Sample revisions are covered for 2 rounds; a third round is possible but adds time outside the standard 5–7 day window, and we flag that before it happens, not after.

When

Decoration placement isn't confirmed before bulk

Logo and number placement (step 4) has to be locked before the 20–30 day bulk run starts — bulk production isn't a stage where placement gets adjusted piece by piece.

Common Questions Before You Brief Us

Do you build bib shorts or chamois pads as part of a kit?
No. Chamois and bib work is development-and-sampling capability only — never a finished piece inside a kit built through this framework. See our Chamois Development page for what that capability covers.
Can one order span more than one scenario, like a Road kit and a Gravel kit in the same program?
Yes. The six-step framework runs each scenario's piece list independently within the same brief and production schedule — it doesn't force one scenario's mix onto another.
What if we only need two of the six pieces, not a full set?
The framework sizes to what the scenario matrix calls for. Indoor kits already run on a single piece — a two-piece order is simply the right count for its scenario, calibrated the same way.
How fast can we see a physical sample before committing to a full order?
5–7 days from a confirmed brief, with two revision rounds included before the spec locks for bulk.
