Gravel's posture shifts more — standing to climb, shifting weight through a loose corner, absorbing terrain through the arms and shoulders on a rough descent. A cut with road's zero margin restricts exactly the movements gravel riding actually makes.

How Much Margin, and Where

The added range isn't spread evenly across the garment — it concentrates at the shoulder and upper back, where climbing and descending movement actually happens, while the torso stays close enough to the body that it doesn't flap or catch on a pack strap.
